SESSION 1 TOPICS
  • Introduction and exploration of the "reality" that information has become a resource, and how and why this has occurred.
  • Introduction to the integration of Internet into the class — intensive interaction with classmates, faculty, and the greater community.
  • Ensuring a shared basic understanding of computer/information technology. The meanings of hardware, software, operating system, network operating system and how each of these impacts and is impacted by the "glass house" vs. desktop (distributed processing) architectures.

Written Assignment:  Select one or two of the controversial points made by Jennifer James and write a brief statement on why you agree or disagree with her point.  Be prepare to discuss your position in class. 
Before class, post your statement to the Discussion Board under the J.James Forum.  Create a new thread  for each new main point.  If the point you wish to comment on has already been introduced, your comments should be added as a  to it.  You are also encouraged to reply to the comments of others.
