    Research Interests

Primary area of research has been on intensive, team-based qualitative research, Rapid Assessment Process (RAP).  RAP uses triangulation and iterative data analysis and additional data collection to quickly develop a preliminary understanding of a situation from the insider's perspective.  RAP can be done in as few as four days but generally requires several  weeks.  My book Rapid Assessment Process: An Introduction was published by AltaMira Press in July 2001.  I have completed a qualitative study of the management of information by leaders of higher education using Ronald Hiefetz's concept of the management of information.   My other major research interest and hobby is the use of computers for enhancing teaching, especially of qualitative research methodology and the application of qualitative research to understanding issues related to computers and technology.  I am especially interested in technology and leadership issues.  I am currently working with an Anthropologist/Nurse from Oregon Health Sciences Univesristy on a NIH funded activity concerning HIV/Aids in Botswana.
