Debunking misconceptions about Islam, Muslims and Arabs

Islam means "submission"
    derived from the word for peace
    submission to the will of God

    The confession of faith.  "There is not God but Allah and Muhammad is his Prophet."
    Prayer five time a day, facing the direction of Mecca (where Muhammad built the Ka' ba).
    Fasting during the daylight hours of Ramadan (the time of Muhammad's revelations).
    Almsgiving (at least 2.5% of one's income) to the relief of the poor in your community.
    Pilgrimmage to Mecca at least once in one's lifetime.
