Women in Comparative Societies

Course Purpose and Theoretical Model. Our objective is to explore the lives of women around the world, comparing their public and private roles and responsibilities, their positions in government, the economy, and the private sphere. We will call the intersection of these roles and structural conditions a country’s “gender regime.”
