Jimi 98
Poe Mountain Snow Ascent

With Jimi, the question is always, "Are you experienced?"  After Jimi 98, David and Ken are completely confident in saying that we are now experienced mountaineers and snow campers.  Jimi 98 featured snow, hail, snow, cold weather, snow climbing, a dramatic unconventional rapid descent and arrest by David, and snow.

Poe Mountain is in the Cascades of central Washington, about 25 miles northwest of Leavenworth.

Ken noted that Jimi 98 was, while shorter than prior Jimis, much more intense.  David's comment was, "In retrospect, I had fun."  Lee was the trip's Beatrice, guiding us into the depths (heights) of an (icy) Inferno, with snow appropriate for Poe's "Descent into the Maelstrom."  The original plan called for 4 days/3 nights, but the snow conditions and David's rib led us to cut the trip in half.
