3:45-5:00 Plenary session: Two directors discuss their recent adaptations of Wharton's novel. Jonathan Bank, of the Mint Theater, directed a revised version of the Wharton/Fitch adaptation of The House of Mirth in 1998; Rachel Dickstein of Ripe Time directed a new version of the novel in the winter of 2004-2005. Question and answer session to follow.
Dinner on your own.

7:45 Introduction to Terence Davies' recent film adaptation of The House of Mirth. Linda Costanzo Cahir (Kean University) and Edie Thornton (Univ. of Wisconsin, Whitewater) will deliver introductory remarks.

8:00-10:15 Screening of the film.

12:30-1:45 Plenary session: Celebrating The House of Mirth . Members of the Wharton Society Executive Board read favorite passages from the novel and briefly discuss their importance as we wrap up the conference.

*Starred meals and coffee breaks are included in the conference registration fee. Please note that there was one error on the registration form: i.e., registration does not include a box lunch on Thursday.
