NAPCU

2006 Conference

NAPCU is a sponsoring organization for the following conference, which will be held in lieu of the annual NAPCU conference this year.  A NAPCU business meeting will be held in Tacoma the night before the NWALD Conference. (details on that mtg. to follow...)

The Northwest Academic Library Directors Symposium will be held on the University of Puget Sound campus on Thursday, November 9, 2006.

The topic we will examine will be the impact of technology on higher education in the next five years and the implications for academic libraries. We have two outside non-librarian experts as morning speakers: Armando Fox on the future of the internet and, and Randy Hinrichs on the use of technology for teaching and learning. We have a distinguished panel of your fellow Northwestern deans and directors in the afternoon, a free hot, not boxed, lunch and time for small group discussions by topic.

Registration is Free and is limited to 60 library directors. Registration ends when we reach the limit of 60 directors or October 6, whichever comes first. Lodging is at the Silver Cloud Inn. A block of rooms is being held at the $109 rate until October 25.

Detailed information about the conference, speakers, and instructions for registering and making hotel reservations are available at the following website: http://www.ups.edu/x13663.xml.

To reserve a shuttle from SeaTac airport to the hotel, contact Shuttle Express at 1-800-487-7433.

The NAPCU business meeting is to take place the night before the Symposium (November 8th) at the Lobster Shop Ruston Way. This restaurant is a short distance from the symposium hotel, the Silver Cloud Inn-Tacoma.
